How to legally marry in Ireland if you live in the United States
Notice, timing, venues, and why the person who marries you must be on the State register.
If you live in the US and want to marry in Ireland, the ceremony is legal only if you follow Irish law, not the rules of your home state. That includes giving notice in Ireland, and being married by someone on the Register of Solemnisers.
You must give at least three months' notice to a registrar in the HSE. That clock starts when the registrar has your documents, not when you email a venue. Build in extra time if passports, divorces or name changes need certified copies.
A family friend cannot legally marry you here unless they are already on this register. Booking a castle does not replace that step. Check the person against this list before you pay a deposit on a ceremony.
